CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS

Movers and Makers Winter Warmer

Join our Creative Programme Director Heidi and Daytime Disco Diva Rachel for a cosy creative yoga retreat day of moving and making in our beautiful new gallery space in the Stables at Coda.

Both Heidi and Rachel teach yoga alongside their other roles here at Coda and are so excited to be combining their skills to bring you this very special day.

You'll be starting the day with a lovely gentle yoga practise Then after a nice warm cup of cacao we'll be inviting you to get your creative groove on to a great playlist.

We''ll be treated to a beautiful lunch provided by Kara's vegan soulfood and then spend the afternoon making a beautiful lantern to take home and light you way through the winter months.

All you need to bring is a yoga mat, some cosy socks and an open heart.

Plenty of parking.

Sew Christmas: Machine Sewn Christmas

For adults (18+)

Take a break from the hurly-burly of prepping for Christmas to spend a morning making bespoke Christmas Decorations. You will have the opportunity to make three or more hanging decorations for your home, or to give as gifts. All templates, fabrics and notions are included in the price All you need to do is bring a sewing machine and a passion to create. This class features mainly machine sewn techniques with hand finishing.

For the Machine Sewn class you will need to know how to use your sewing machine. We will have a couple available on the day, but we hope you will bring your own.

Tea and coffee will be provided along with seasonal nibbles

CODA IN THE COMMUNITY

OUR WORK IN SCHOOLS

LANTERN-MAKING

Our studio artists Maddison Collymore and Tracy Dovey have been working with our Creative Programme Director, Heidi Steller, to deliver some beautiful lantern workshops in a number of local schools, creating lanterns for festive events in Ringwood (Winter Wanderland) and the annual Totton Lantern event.

Both of these events are happening on December 1st.

Heidi comes from a background in Theatre Design and has been designing and creating both large and small-scale lantern and celebratory arts sculptures for festivals and events for the last 25 years. She is really excited to be able to bring this experience with her to Coda and to create a great new team of artists who can deliver workshops for Coda in the community.

Thanks to Culture in Common who are supporting Coda to train artists and deliver these workshops.

DON’T WORRY PROJECT

Coda is also currently working in 5 local SEND schools with the ‘Don’t Worry’ project, led by Sam Mason, with a trio of professional musicians. This project explores wellbeing through music and will be working with children with disabilities across BCP to create and perform live music based on the classic Bobby McFerrin tune, “Dont Worry, Be Happy.”

OUR ADULT LEARNING DISABLED COMMUNITY

PARTY NIGHT 

Our Daytime Disco project has been working with hundreds of adults with learning disabilities in our community, using DJs and dance to encourage physical activity and have fun!

On Friday, we enjoyed our first Party Night of the project at Hoburne Naish. Everyone hit the dance floor to a DJ set from the Mix It Up Kru and danced and sang along to live music from Stuart Jebbitt and the SGC band.

Huge thanks to the Mix It Up Kru djs, Stuart Jebbitt and the band, Hoburne and Energise Me for helping to make it happen.

If you missed out this time, don’t worry - we’re doing it all again in January!

The next event is Friday 10th January from 7 - 10pm at Hoburne Naish Holiday Park, welcoming everyone from our learning disabled community.

The venue is accessible, with a bar, dancefloor and free parking. Come along, celebrate together and have fun! Tickets are just £2 and available from the Coda website shop.

MUSIC

THE FOLK ORC IS 15!

On 28th October, The Folk Orc celebrated its 15th Anniversary with a performance and session at The Earthouse.

The Folk Orc has been gathering at Coda every Thursday evening (term time) to learn and play a selection of traditional British and Irish folk songs since November 2009.

To celebrate, the Regular Sessions Band performed a set of specially selected and arranged songs from the Folk Orc Repertoire around an open fire, followed by a Songbook Session where everyone was invited to join in.

COMING SOON

THE BRAMBLE HILL CAFE at Coda

We are delighted to confirm that, in the new year, The Bramble Hill Cafe will be opening at Coda.

Named after the original fields (before the farm existed) and run by Ruby Davey in partnership with Coda, the new cafe will be situated in The Stables and open to everyone.

Ruby has lots of hospitality experience from pub management to working in cafes and is really excited to be part of Coda’s new developments.

The cafe will be open from 11am to 6pm Monday to Thursday initially and, in addition to teas and coffees, will offer breakfast pastries, a small lunch menu and afternoon and tea-time treats.

We are delighted to finally be able to offer our Coda community a warm and welcoming space to socialise again. Thank you for your patience whilst the development has been ongoing. We hope that you support Ruby and the Bramble Hill Cafe.

We look forward to welcoming you to our new winter workshops and hope you enjoy the next few weeks in the run up to Christmas.
