What’s Coming Up at Coda
We hope you all enjoyed a fun, relaxing half term. We are back this week for the final half term of the year with loads of fantastic workshops, as well as our regular music tuition and groups in the run up to Christmas.
There are some great new workshops throughout November and December available to book now, including some lovely festive activities.
HALF TERM & HALLOWEEN WORKSHOPS
Over the half term, we enjoyed lots of fun Halloween activities for families, children and young people, including:

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN & FAMILIES
After-school mixed-media Sculpture Club
with Emily Stracey
Thursdays 4.30 - 6.00pm
For 8-14 years
£60 for 6 weeks 7th November - 12th December
This sculpture course will be an opportunity to explore making some fun artwork; drawing and creating from a clay and a variety of materials.

Family Creative Nature Workshop
with Hayley Potter
Saturday 30th November
10.30am - 12.30pm
£10 (for 1 child + 1-2 adult parents/guardians)
Age guidance for children 3-11
Enjoy exploring your relationship with nature creatively and how this can be included in our everyday lives.
This welcoming class intends to give you time and space as a family to learn new skills together that you can then use to inspire quality creative time at home and in nature with those you love.
This sessions may include making with clay, painting, drawing and 3D. Each child should be accompanied by a parent or carer to get the most out of this workshop.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS
VILLAGE HALL DRAW

For adults of all ages and ability
Tuesdays 7 – 9pm
£90 for a 6 week block 5th November - 10th December
Relaxed and intuitive creative drawing sessions for adults of all ages and abilities – most of whom haven’t drawn since childhood! Each week there will be the opportunity to explore a variety of materials, ideas and artists in a playful way.

WILD WOMEN CREATE

For women, or those who identify as women, with an intuitive connection or interest in nature, the seasons and cycles around us. Each session we will create something inspired by these themes. This may include ceramics, painting, drawing and book arts.
The intention is that this session in a meadow studio will give you time and space to explore themes and ideas about women in nature, express yourself, learn new skills, nurture your creative voice and make new friends.
This course will run on 8/11, 22/11, 29/11, 6/12 & 13/12

CHRISTMAS POTTERY WORKSHOP

For adults (Age guidance 18+)
In this Christmas Pottery workshop, we will be making up to three Christmas decorations. Choose to make an Angel family, Santa Family, or a set of trees.
I will provide you with all the tools and techniques - and the price includes all the materials and firings. I will glaze them with a glossy clear glaze and fire and return your works of art in about 3 - 4 weeks time

CHRISTMAS PAPERCUTTING WORKSHOP
with Kyleigh Orlebar
Monday 2nd December

For adults (Age guidance 18+)
Join papercut artist Kyleigh Orlebar at Coda for a fun and festive Christmas papercutting workshop.
You’ll learn how to use a fixed blade and swivel scalpel to cut a typographical hanging paper decoration from Kyleigh’s gorgeous template provided that reads ‘Merry Christmas’.
It will be finished with a white ribbon ready to hang up in a window or wall for Christmas.
The hanging template is cut from A3 red, green or white G.F.Smith paper. Please let us know the colour choice on booking.
A wonderfully mindful and festive afternoon awaits!

CREATIVE WELLBEING
Creative Wellbeing is an informal drop-in group aimed at improving mental health for adults through access to creative activities. These sessions are great for anyone (18+) who might want to Increase social connections, confidence and self-esteem whilst enjoying getting creative.
Sessions take place in Somerford, Hythe, Fordingbridge, New Milton and Pennington - for full details, click here.
In particular, we would love to welcome more people to our Somerford sessions which take place on a Monday afternoon 1-3pm at Somerford ARC (20 Southey Road, Christchurch BH23 3EH).
Sessions are FREE and all materials are provided (or you can bring your own project to work on).

This exhibition is all about the list. The artist Kyleigh Orlebar has been foraging for them for the last 20 years - and this new exhibition reveals her favourites, alongside inviting you to contribute to the collection.

ARTISAN CHRISTMAS FAIR

On Saturday 30th November 10.30am - 5pm, there will be a festive fair at Coda to celebrate local art and crafts - featuring a diverse range of handmade ceramics, glass, art, textiles, prints and bags.
This will be a lovely chance to buy unique handmade gifts for Christmas and all occasions.
Refreshments will be available, with all proceeds go to Coda Music and Arts Trust

MUSIC
TRINITY EXAMS
There has been extra interest in students wishing to take exams this term, so an additional date has been added for Trinity examinations at Coda. Exams will now be taking place on both the 1st and 8th December.
MUDEFORD ARTS FESTIVAL
A huge thank you to Mudeford Arts Festival who have very generously donated £2,000 to Coda following the festival this year. This contribution will will support our work with people with dementia and their carers by enabling further work with local people with dementia, and allowing us to explore arts activities and their benefit with older people.
We are so grateful that the festival chose Coda as a beneficiary for these funds – every penny is appreciated and helps to enrich and improve lives.
CODA IN THE COMMUNITY
Our residency within the Dementia Ward at Royal Bournemouth Hospital has been so beneficial to both staff and patients that we have been asked to continue into a second year.
This work has been funded by NFU Mutual and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity and Christmas will see lots of extra activity, including a visit by the Coda Memory Band.
PARTY NIGHTS FOR OUR ADULT LEARNING DISABLED COMMUNITY
Coda is hosting two PARTY NIGHTS on Friday 8th November and Friday 10th January from 7 - 10pm at Hoburne Naish Holiday Park for learning disabled adults & carers, welcoming everyone from our learning disabled community.
The venue is accessible, with a bar, dancefloor and free parking and we will be enjoying both a DJ set from the Mix It Up Kru and live music from Stuart Jebbitt and the SGC band.
Come along, celebrate together and have fun!

CODA PARKINSONS CHOIR & MUSIC THERAPY
Our Coda Parkinsons choir, which was re-launched earlier this year, has been a huge success and will continue next year.
We are also delighted to announce an expansion to our music therapy team as Fiona Pritchard, who leads the choir, will be joining Coda as a music therapist.
Welcome Fiona - you will be a brilliant addition to our team.
We look forward to welcoming you all back for the final half term of the year.
