Music for Older People

Coda’s award-winning work with older people with dementia and in residential care continues to make a profound impact on the lives of local people.

Coda works in care homes across Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch using music to tackle issues of isolation, anxiety and loss of identity.

In addition to regular work in care homes, Coda supports Care Home staff by offering training in basic Music Therapy techniques, which they can use with residents on a day-to-day basis.

During the pandemic, Coda produced a series of ‘Gramophone Time‘ short clips as a way to help care for older people and support those with dementia either at home or in residential care. This online series is free to access, available for anyone caring for an older person and designed as a tool to bring back memories and start conversations.
