Individual and group drum kit tuition at Coda Music and Arts Centre is provided from the age of 6 years upwards. After the initial steps of co-ordination, style and technique, the student will progress quickly through basic rock shuffle grooves, associated fill-ins and variations on the hi-hat patterns. Students will learn to read drum music. The Drumsense Teaching Project provides many play-along tracks that develop an awareness of different musical styles and allow improvisation around the drum kit for a beginner or accomplished player. As the student progresses Jazz, Latin and Funk styles are introduced.

Students can also learn Latin Percussion such as Congas, Bongos and Bell Shakers etc and, of course, Latin rhythms such as Samba and Salsa, etc.

Drum kit is taught from a broad mix of resources including Drumsense, Drumtech, Trinity College London and Rock School.
