Adult Beginners Piano

Wednesdays 2.30 – 3.30pm
Starting Wednesday 11th September
in The Piano Room, Coda Music Centre
Cost £125 for 10 week course

Adult Beginners Piano is a 10-week course specifically designed for beginners with no prior knowledge of music.

The course introduces the basics of playing the piano and the foundations for learning to read music and understanding the theory of music.

This course will be a practical programme of learning to play, interspersed with discussion and exercises developing knowledge of how to understand and read music.

N.B. This is a piano style based course (i.e. it does not cover keyboard skills used when playing synthesisers).

Topics covered by the course include:

The notes of the treble and bass clef, note values, rests, time signatures and simple key signatures. Alongside these, you will develop independent use of the fingers of the left and right hands, practicing the hands separately at first and then playing with both hands.

Having access to a piano to practice on between lessons is preferable and to benefit from the course, participants should commit to a minimum of 30-40 minutes practice at home per week.

It is intended that this course will develop the skills and techniques needed to play beginners piano music and gain a solid foundation in basic theory of music. It should also increase your confidence and provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to then graduate to an ‘Improvers’ piano course or one-to-one tuition, should you wish to progress further.

The cost of the course is £100 and places are limited as we have just 5 spaces available. This course takes place at Coda Music & Arts Centre: Chewton Farm Road, Walkford, Christchurch BH23 5QL

If you are interested in a place on this course, please contact Coda as soon as possible on 01425 276161 or email contact@coda.org.uk to guarantee your place.
