During lockdown, Coda Music Trust has been delivering weekly Facebook Live music events to provide opportunities for people to continue to engage with music – and for the Coda community to meet online until such time as the music centre can open its doors again.
This week, our Facebook Live event will be something a little bit different and may be of interest to you.
Stuart Jebbitt will be transmitting a ‘Gramophone Hour‘.
He will be spinning some 78s on his Gramophone, including songs by George Formby, Vera Lynne, Flanagan & Allen, Tommy Handley and many others.

Some of you may already know Stuart, as he is one of Coda’s community musicians and he regularly visits and plays in local residential care homes.
We all know that music is a great way of helping to care for the elderly and support those with dementia. Music can soothe, stimulate and bring to mind long-forgotten memories … and reach parts of the brain in ways that other forms of communication cannot.
We’re sure that many of those in your care have fond memories of family gramophones and the music of the era.
We are working closely with local residential care homes and care providers to reach as many people as possible with our Gramophone Hour. It would be hugely appreciated if you can help us to spread the word to your networks. If you know of any people or organisations who might welcome this content, please pass on this information and help us to share.
We appreciate that Facebook Live may not be the most appropriate channel to view this content for your client group and that the 7pm time slot may not be ideal, so we will upload the video to our Youtube channel directly after transmission.
This means it will be available to watch from Saturday 2nd May on the Coda Youtube channel click here
Please join us online, if you can, to enjoy Stuart spinning some 78s live on Friday 1st May at 7pm on facebook.com/CodaMusicTrust/
If not, please go to Coda Music Trust’s Youtube channel here on Saturday 2nd May from 10am, where you will be able to access and play the video at a time that suits you!
We hope you enjoy The Gramophone Hour and that it might be a useful tool for communication, engagement or just pure entertainment!
