Laura Reid

Laura is an experienced music tutor, and has held senior music education positions at In Harmony Lambeth, Ealing Music Service and English Folk Dance and Song Society. She currently teaches cello at Bournemouth University and has taught at Brockenhurst College.

As a cellist and musician Laura has performed at international festivals NIME in Copenhagen, Womad, Celtic Connections and Glastonbury. Collaborations include: Bathhouse, released on Firecracker Records 2018, featured on Andrew Weatherall’s NTS radio show in January 2020, and Optic Echo, X-ray FM in Portland USA. Sessions on Later with Jools Holland with Tom Mcrae, MTV, VH1, Mercury Music Prize with Kathryn Williams, and BBC radio with Maximo Park. As a composer her music been performed by Kokkorro (BSO), London Sinfonietta and Ensemble Eleven. Co-writes have been published by Warner Bros. and synched to TV and featured on international radio and TV.

Commissions include Icthyosaur for Tabla and String Quartet, premiered by members of Devon Philharmonic, part of CoMA Festival 2020, a Variation for  violinist Fenella Humphrey’s Caprice project, for release on Rubicon classics, Song of Isis, Tete a tete Festival 2020 and Celestial Bodies for the Dorset Moon performed to over 1,500 members of the public in 2019.
