LORETTA’S HOLIDAY HOME with Emily Stracey – Creative Family Workshops
Thursdays 10.30am -12.30pm
Starting Thursday 1st August 2024
For 8-12 years
£15 per child PAYG or Summer offer: £65 for a 5 week block

Loretta is a cat who holidays in a beach hut – she is an agony aunt to animals and has a travelling show. Animals write to her with a problem, or a talent, asking for advice and then perhaps end up appearing in her show!

Some of our workshops will involve writing letters to Loretta as if we are an animal with a problem or a talent.

All materials will be provided, parents are welcome to stay and join in if they’d like to.

Week 1: Gulls not Buoys
Seaside fun – we’ll start with some drawing, then we’ll make a pesky seagull from clay – complete with chips, lolly or a pasty in the gull’s beak, sitting in a nest!

Week 2: Seaside Beach Huts
Inspired by Loretta the cat’s beach hut, we will create our very own little colourful beach houses, using slabs of clay.

Week 3: Cool Rock Pools
Who’s hiding in your rock pool? We will be creating a rock pool from clay and some little creatures (crabs, snails & shrimps) to inhabit it. We may use mixed media (wire and sticks) and create some lovely watery, watercolour paintings of our rock pools too!

Week 4: Animal Crackers
Looking at animals and their habitats, we will take inspiration from these and create some animals and their homes. Using our imaginations, we might give them some alternative places to live!

Week 5: Pet Pawtraits
This workshop will involve drawing and making a head of our favourite pets. You can bring a photo of your pet – or just a favourite animal – and we will create them in clay. If we have time at the end we can write a little story about them.

CYANOTYPE WORKSHOPS with Sam Lewis – Creative Workshops for Young Adults
Fridays: 2nd and 9th August

2 – 5pm
£25 per person, per workshop
For young adults

These mindful, creative workshops for young adults provide an opportunity to discover the beautiful art of cyanotypes – the oldest form of photography.

Cyanotypes are Prussian blue prints made with light sensitive paper. During this workshop, we will spend time outside and in the studio, using nature as our inspiration, working from collected natural objects. Everything you need will be supplied, but if you have some inspirational images, photographs or sketches (plants, animals etc) to make your artwork even more unique, please bring them along with you.

To register your interest in any of these workshops, please email

We will then contact you to confirm bookings and take payment once interest has been registered.
