This project represented one term’s work with all of the Year 1 students at Queens Park Infants School. All of the work was centred around the story of The Gingerbread Man and incorporated Geography (local and global), Technology, Food & Nutrition, Art, Writing, Maths and Music (creative composition).
The project was part of Coda’s work with the local Music Hub for Bournemouth and Poole and supported by Bournemouth Borough Council through Soundstorm.
The students began by reading the story of The Gingerbread Man, then began to create their own exploits based on the original tale, after taking a bus ride and a trip to Bournemouth Gardens.
Working with Sam Mason of Coda Music Trust, all of the students in year 1
* creatively interpreted the Gingerbread Man’s travels to music in a series of musical compositions and performed using spoken word, singing, percussion and instruments
*composed and performed an original song based on their interpretation of the Gingerbread Man’s adventures
