NATIONAL LOCKDOWN UPDATE
NATIONAL LOCKDOWN UPDATE

Following the latest announcement from H.M. Government, England is now in a National lockdown. To visit the gov.uk website for full guidance click here

This means more restrictions will be in place for daily life but Coda will continue with online provision as detailed in our previous communication and below.

It is our belief that learning and playing music is now more important than ever. Music boosts mental health and wellbeing in isolation and our weekly lessons and sessions provide not just great motivation for students but can be a lifeline for some of our more vulnerable groups.

In line with the new Government guidance, we will need to close the Music Centre until restrictions are lifted.

However, we will continue to teach and work remotely during this new period of restrictions, so that you will continue to have your music lessons.

Lessons will NOT be cancelled, but for all of our students who were planning face-to-face lessons from January, your lessons will be delivered online via Zoom from Monday 4th January (the start of the Spring Term).

Zoom login details WILL BE THE SAME as last term or as previously provided during the last period of lockdown.

Please use the login details you already have for your online lessons this term.

If you have lost your Zoom login details or you were not provided with these previously, please contact Amie on contact@coda.org.uk  and we will get the Zoom login details out to you as soon as possible.

There are a couple of exceptions to this. Unfortunately, we will need to postpone the re-starting of drum lessons. These cannot be delivered online, so these lessons are back on hold until restrictions are lifted.

Also, our ‘in-person’ group sessions for Ukulele Band and Folk Orc will be postponed. Hopefully you are happy to hold on until we know more, as we’d still love to run the three remaining sessions as soon as they can be delivered safely.

Our tutors have been delivering lessons online for some time now, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, so we are confident that the standard of teaching will be as good as in-person tuition.

For those of you who haven’t had online lessons previously, we have some easy guidance for getting the best out of online lessons: click here

Also, please take a look at Coda’s Online Safeguarding policy and guidelines, which you can access online: click here

We will also be working behind the scenes to develop new music activities and content which can be delivered online during this lockdown. Details will follow but, in the meantime, please subscribe to our Youtube channel and follow us on our social media pages, where we will be providing free music-making resources and activities.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch via email: contact@coda.org.uk

In the meantime, we will be making the necessary arrangements to deliver lessons with as little disruption as possible.

The office will again be working with skeleton staff and mainly from home, so please be patient and email rather than call where possible.

We do not yet know when these restrictions are due to be reviewed, although this is likely to be mid-February. At this point we will contact you all again to clarify what this means for your music lessons.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
