IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ACCESS TO CODA
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ACCESS TO CODA

Unfortunately, works on our car park have over-run so, regrettably, there will be some inconvenience over the next few weeks.

Please be cautious, take care on-site and be vigilant of changing layouts, machinery and men at work.

We will endeavour to make clear which areas can be used for parking and there should be sufficient spaces available for all of our centre users but, if necessary, please park in Avenue Road and walk on-site.

We can only apologise for the current state of our car park and we hope that works will be complete within a few weeks.

ARE YOU (OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW) LOOKING TO LEARN?

We are welcoming some new one-to-one students, so if you’re thinking about lessons, there is still time to sign up!

We currently have a couple of spaces available for Saxophone lessons from September with our brilliant tutor, Andrew Blee.

We also have (limited) availability for Violin and Guitar

We offer 20 minute taster sessions for just £5 (subject to availability) in instrumental tuition – please get in touch if you would like to arrange a trial lesson.

We also have ONE space remaining on our adult BEGINNERS PIANO course, which will run on Wednesdays 2.30 – 3.30pm, starting Wednesday 13th September, led by Vivienne Kirk.

CHRISTCHURCH LACE SOCIETY

A big thank you to all of the members of Christchurch Lace Society, who meet monthly to chat and make lace. Each month, they hold a raffle to raise funds for a local charity, which is chosen by their members – and their chosen charity for last year was Coda!

We were absolutely delighted to receive a generous donation of £200 from the CLS, which is hugely appreciated.

BURLEY ART CLUB

Our friends at Burley Art Club have generously chosen to support us as their charity this year.

Burley Art Club is an enthusiastic and vibrant art club in the heart of The New Forest and was recently part of the Hampshire Open Studios, an annual art trail where the visiting public can meet artists in their homes, studios and galleries free of charge.

We are hugely grateful to the club for their support.

NEW FOREST SHOW

We had a fantastic time at the New Forest Show this year providing Ukulele Workshops (with James Arthur), craft sessions (with Karen Blake) and live performances from our talented students, Max Elmore and Louisa Baynes.

Baabie, the fantastic papier mache sheep, was created in craft sessions at the show, as well as some brilliant paper bag puppets. Thank you to our creative wellbeing group participants who helped to make the sheet music roses to decorate Baabie – and to everyone who visited our stand, performed, supported, helped out or took part at the show, we had a great few days.

COULD YOU VOLUNTEER FOR CODA?

Beautiful Sounds sessions are Coda’s weekly music workshops for adults with learning difficulties, led by music leaders Chris Hopgood (Mondays) and Stuart Jebbitt (Tuesdays & Thursdays).

Whether you have kindly volunteered for us previously or would like to volunteer with us for the first time, we are looking for people to help us with our Monday & Tuesday sessions from September:

Monday   10.00am – 12.30pm (at Coda Music Centre)
Tuesday  10.00am – 12.30pm (at Coda Music Centre)

(The actual sessions run 10.30am – 12pm but we would like help with setting-up and clearing-away).

Our Monday sessions are quieter and more acoustic and our Tuesday (& Thursday) sessions are a bit louder and livelier! All of them are really fulfilling for participants, carers and volunteers – you can get a flavour of Beautiful Sounds from this clip click here

Volunteers need to be dependable, as we do rely on their attendance once committed but, in return for volunteering, we offer full induction and training, the opportunity to meet lots of lovely people, make new friends and work in a unique, friendly environment.

If you would like to know more – or if you would be interested in helping us out and giving up a couple of hours each week next term to assist with a Beautiful Sounds session – please get in touch.

Contact Coda on 01425 276 161 or email contact@coda.org.uk
or you can visit our website here to download a volunteer form, which you can complete and return to Coda.

We look forward to hearing from you!

CLUB CREATE

Club Create also returns next week (Friday 8th September). These drop-in sessions are fun and active workshops for learning disabled adults, with an emphasis on hands-on making for anyone who loves to draw, stick, paint and create!

Sessions are led by art facilitator Karen Blake and take place in the Coda Café on Friday mornings from 10.30am to 12pm each week throughout term time.

If you are interested, please get in touch. It is important for us to have an idea of numbers so that we provide sufficient art and craft resources, so please book ahead if you would like to attend.

Contact us on 01425 276 161 or email contact@coda.org.uk if you would like to take part.

INVOICES FOR THE AUTUMN TERM

Invoices for our Autumn Term music lessons were sent out by email in the week commencing 14th August. If you have not received yours, please let us know. If you don’t plan to return for lessons this term, please contact us as soon as you can so that we can offer your space to our waiting lists.

We can’t wait to welcome you all back for the Autumn Term.
