Our Coda Creative “Create and Grow” Workshop Week for adults with learning disabilities took place in August this year.
What: A week of creative activities for adults with moderate learning disabilities
When: Monday 1st to Friday 5th August from 10am to 4pm each day
Where: Coda Music Centre, Chewton Farm Road, Christchurch BH23 5QL
What did it cost: £5 per session (half day) or £20 for the whole week
Attendees needed support from their usual care staff and a packed lunch.
WORKSHOPS:
We offered workshops in Music, Art, Cooking, Drama, Planting and Growing plus a whole mix of creative activities with a team of inspirational workshop leaders.
The Workshop Week was aimed at adults with moderate learning disabilities and each day offered opportunities to learn new skills and participate in fun, sociable workshops with a Garden Party theme, building towards a Garden Party as a culmination event on the final day (Friday).
Here are just some of the incredible things that were created by the participants across the week.
THE CODA PIZZA OPERA
Welcome to The Coda Pizza Opera, created at Coda’s ‘Create & Grow’ workshop week. When a fire in the kitchen of the Coda village threatens to ruin the wedding party, our hero, Hawaiian Tony, comes to the rescue and saves the day! Click here to see the Opera
THE REGGAE PARTY JAM
Created by attendees of the big and small group Music Sessions, this track was written, rehearsed and recorded over the course of the week. Click here to listen to Reggae Party Jam
MUSIC BUNTING
This fabulous bunting was created by attendees of our art sessions from old music score sheets.
PIZZA
