GETTING TO GRIPS WITH BLUES RHYTHMS

Not currently running. If you would be interested in taking this course in the future, please contact Coda.

Wednesdays
1.30pm – 3pm
at Coda Music Centre
£135 for a 12-week course

This course, led by Chris Hopgood, is designed to explain how blues rhythms work, what they are and how you can create your own.

Starting with the most basic and common rhythm, you will then progress through many variations. You will look at 12-bar sequences, what is meant by a 1-4-5 progression and delve into the characteristics of particular styles such as a Texas Shuffle, Chicago Blues and Swamp Blues.

Over the course of the 12 weeks, you will have the opportunity to write your own blues song in whichever style you choose. Each week you will be given a practice schedule to help you and enable you to progress through the course.

So, if you’ve ever fancied just jamming around on a blues progression – or maybe you want to be able to join a blues jam session and comfortably back up a singer or lead player with more than just strumming chords, this course will allow you to do just that!

Getting To Grips with Blues Rhythms is primarily designed for Electric Guitar players although Acoustic Guitarists will also be able to join in with most of the topics covered.
