Beginners 5-String Banjo Course

Not currently running. If you would be interested in taking this course in the future, please contact Coda.

Wednesdays 1.30-3pm£90 for a 6 week course at Coda Music CentreLed by Chris Hopgood

What could be more perfect for the Summer than lying back in your hammock and picking away on a banjo? The 5-string banjo is one of the most recognisable sounds of American folk music, as well as becoming popular in popular music and rock music, it is a far more versatile instrument than it is often given credit for.

This six week course will introduce you to the basics of American style 5-string banjo. You will be learning some basic tunes, chord shapes and rolls. Other topics covered will also include accompanying songs, left hand technique and frailing.

The course will be taught in Open-G tuning (if you don’t know what that means, don’t worry, it too will be covered on the course).

We do have a couple of Banjos which can be used for the sessions, so let us know when you book if you need to borrow one.
