This Autumn, the Folk Orc is going ‘On Tour’ and taking free workshops and sessions to venues around The New Forest.
Starting on Saturday 28th September, the Folk Orc will be in Ringwood with an Instrument Try-Out and Song Workshop and, later, an open session at Ringwood Brewery!
Come along to the daytime Try-out/Workshop or evening Open Session – or both!
The sessions are FREE. Full details are below:

*The Instrument Try-Out and Song Workshop, is a chance to learn a selection of traditional folk songs, many about – or inspired by – The New Forest and play them in the Folk Orc style.
With their 20+ traditional folk instruments, the Folk Orc invite you to come and have a go – The Folk Orc will bring the tools, you just need to bring enthusiasm!
Instruments available to try during the workshop include mandolins, bodhrans, fiddles, banjos and more. You will be shown what to do and you will learn some songs to play. If you have your own instrument and want to come and join in then you are also very welcome to do this.
There’s no need to book, but please let Chris Hopgood know if you plan to come along so he has an idea of numbers for the venue (email chrishopgoodmusic@gmail.com )
**The Open Sessions are a way to encourage everyone to come and join in. We’ll be playing music inspired by The New Forest.
Bring your voice or instrument of choice and play or sing along.
No need to book for the Open Sessions – just turn up and join in!
