Coda Family Orchestra with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
Coda Family Orchestra with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

Coda is delighted to be collaborating with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on an exciting new Family Orchestra project.

The Family Orchestra aims to encourage people to come together to share the joy of music making, experience playing in an ensemble with other like-minded individuals and to create brand new pieces of music from scratch.

The Orchestra will meet once a month on a Sunday morning at the Shelley Theatre in Boscombe and is open to everyone, whatever their musical standard – from experienced musicians, to those who have just started on an instrument. Any instrument, any standard, any age are welcome!

The Orchestra will be led by Coda workshop leader and BSO Associate Sam Mason, a musician with an international reputation for her work in creating new and original music, and Sam will be joined by special guests from the Coda team each month.

It will explore existing repertoire and support composing and devising new music as part of an ensemble. Children should be joined by an adult player.

The Orchestra will meet from 10am to 12pm on the following dates:

Sunday 19 February, 19 March, 23 April, 21 May, 11 June, 9 July and culminates in a performance at the BSO “Proms in the Park” in Meyrick Park, Bournemouth on Sunday 13th August.

The cost of each session is £6 for 2 people, £8 for 3 people and £10 for a family of 4 or more.

This is whole family entertainment guaranteed, so gather up your relatives and dig out all your musical instruments to join the Family Orchestra.

If you are interested in joining the project please email contact@coda.org.uk for more information or call 01425 276 161 to register your interest.
