SPONSOR OUR TEAM!
This term, three of our amazing Coda tutors have decided to challenge themselves, musically, to raise money for Coda.
Stephen Kenyon has entered himself for the Grade 5 Trinity Classical Guitar exam in June.
You might think that Grade 5 will be a breeze for someone as experienced and talented as Stephen … but there’s a catch!
His fellow Coda tutors will be picking his pieces for him ON THE DAY so he will be SIGHT READING them in the exam!
Stephen got the idea from an old colleague, an organist, who entered himself for Grade 5 piano as a sponsored exam – with his staff choosing his piano pieces just prior to the exam for him to sight read!
In addition, Jonny Vernam has entered himself for the Grade 8 Rock Guitar examination. Jonny already has Grade 8 in Acoustic Guitar, but the Rock guitar exam is a different beast and with a devilishly short space of time to prepare, we are all keen to see how it goes!
And finally, Jacqui Khan, who already has Grade 8 in TWO other instruments, has entered herself for Grade 6 Clarinet in June (33 years after taking her Grade 5 exam!). This is Jacqui’s THIRD study/instrument – and she has agreed to share her results with us.
All three of our brave and brilliant tutors have decided to challenge themselves publicly in order to raise some money for the Coda Bursary Fund.
They would love you to sponsor and encourage them in their respective challenges. Coda is committed to providing access to music for everyone and, through our bursary scheme, we provide financial support towards the cost of tuition and therapy to those in financial need. So please support our tutors’ endeavours if you can – and leave them an encouraging message on the ‘Just Giving’ noticeboard.
You can donate here: justgiving.com/campaign/CodaBursaries
Every penny is appreciated – especially in the current financial climate when we are receiving an unprecedented number of applications for bursaries at Coda Music and Arts Trust.
Please wish our tutors the best with their exams and we’ll share their progress and results with you over the coming weeks.
CHEQUE REMINDER
Just a reminder to anyone paying by cheque, that cheque payments should now be payable to Coda Music and Arts Trust (not Coda Music Trust).
CODA FIDDLE ORCHESTRA
Huge congratulations to our Coda Fiddle Orchestra who took part in the Bournemouth Music Competitions Festival recently, coming First in all the string ensemble instrumentals sections, including preliminary, foundation, intermediate and advanced recital.
Well done to all of our CFO players – a fantastic achievement!
CLUB CREATE
As part of our support for the local community of people with learning disabilities, we run lots of music and arts workshops each week. Club Create is a fun and active workshop with an emphasis on hands-on making for those that love to draw, stick, paint and create!
This Friday we will be celebrating the Coronation by making crowns, so if you support an adult with a learning disability, please come along and be creative!
Sessions take place in the Coda Café on a Friday morning from 10.30am to 12pm and run each week throughout term time.
If you are interested, please get in touch. It is important for us to have an idea of numbers so that we provide sufficient art and craft resources, so please book ahead if you would like to attend.
Contact us on contact@hart.works or telephone 07999 492808 if you would like to take part.
BRANCHING OUT
As a legacy of our recent Be Creative drama sessions, our friends at Forest Forge are launching new Drama & Acting classes for learning disabled adults.
