As you may be aware, Coda Music Trust recently secured funding from Arts Council England and over the next three years Coda aims to create a ‘culture of giving’ based around our mission to transform lives and help people through music.
We would love to tell you more about our plans and enlist your help.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
We need your help to maintain key areas of our work for the most vulnerable people in our local community – particularly disabled adults and children, older people in care, and people in ill-health. Social services, the NHS and education have all experienced dramatic reductions in funding and, consequently, are no longer able to continue to fund Coda’s valuable work. We need your help to continue to provide these vital services.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We have been successful in raising £75,000 from Arts Council England to support our work. However these funds will only become available to us if we are able to match it through our own fundraising efforts.
We are therefore running a three-year fundraising campaign ‘Coda in the Community’ to allow us to raise an additional £75,000 which, combined with funding from Arts Council England, will make a transformational difference to our local community.
We are looking for people (individuals and businesses) to commit to supporting Coda over a three-year period and every pound donated will be doubled by the funding from Arts Council England.
We are looking for lead donors to pledge a minimum £10,000 donation (i.e. circa £3,500 each year for three years) to the charity. These donors will play a transformative role in supporting the charity to realise our future plans and play a vital role in making substantial and positive change within the local community. This tier of the scheme will provide opportunities for a donor not only to provide funding but also to become strategically involved in supporting the charity to grow (if wished). Community Pioneers will be offered the opportunity to work closely with the charity and to be in a position to influence Coda’s strategic growth plans and direction. They will also receive acknowledgement and recognition online, offline and at Coda Music Centre and receive invitations to special events created and hosted in partnership with Coda’s cultural and corporate partners.
Community Leaders are donors who would pledge a minimum £5,000 donation (i.e. circa £1700 per year for three years) to the charity to deliver our work. This tier will provide each donor with the opportunity to work with Coda to influence its plans; provide acknowledgement and recognition online, offline and at Coda Music Centre; and invitations to special events created and hosted in partnership with Coda’s cultural and corporate partners.
Pledging a minimum £1,000 donation (i.e. circa £350 per year for three years), Coda’s Community Supporters will play a vital role in making substantial and positive change within the local community. Each donor will receive recognition online and offline in our print materials and invitations to special events created and hosted in partnership with Coda’s cultural and corporate partners.
Every donation made will be automatically matched pound for pound by Arts Council England. This means your donation will be doubled (and increased by a further 25% thanks to Gift Aid), ensuring your support will go even further in helping us to carry out our work. For example, every £1000 donated will be worth £2250 to us!
In addition philanthropic donations are usually defined as a ‘gift’ and so are not liable for tax. Furthermore, higher rate tax payers are entitled to reclaim the remainder of tax relief (between higher and basic rate) meaning that should they donate £1000, our charity could claim £250 Gift Aid and the donor can potentially claim back £250.
No matter how big or small your donation, your support will enable us to build on the work we already do within the local community and make a substantial difference to those in need of our support. With all our work based in the areas of Dorset, Hampshire and the New Forest, your fundraising efforts will directly benefit the local community in which we all live.
