Tuesdays 1.45 – 2.45pm
Starting Tuesday 24th April
in The Piano Room, Coda Music Centre
Cost £100 for 10 week course
Beginning after the Easter break, we are launching a new adult (age 16+) course of Piano for Beginners.
These sessions will take place on a Tuesday afternoon from 2 – 3 pm, starting Tuesday 24th April and will be led by Vivienne Kirk.
Adult Beginners Piano is a 10-week course specifically designed for beginners with no prior knowledge of music.
The course introduces the basics of playing the piano and the foundations for learning to read music and understanding the theory of music.
This course will be a practical programme of learning to play, interspersed with discussion and exercises developing knowledge of how to understand and read music.
N.B. This is a piano style based course (i.e. it does not cover keyboard skills used when playing synthesisers).
Topics covered by the course include:
The notes of the treble and bass clef, note values, rests, time signatures and simple key signatures. Alongside these, you will develop independent use of the fingers of the left and right hands, practicing the hands separately at first and then playing with both hands.
Having access to a piano to practice on between lessons is preferable and to benefit from the course, participants should commit to a minimum of 30-40 minutes practice at home per week.
It is intended that this course will develop the skills and techniques needed to play beginners piano music and gain a solid foundation in basic theory of music. It should also increase your confidence and provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to then graduate to an ‘Improvers’ piano course or one-to-one tuition, should you wish to progress further.
The cost of the course is £100 and places are limited as we have just 5 spaces available.
If you are interested in a place on this course, please contact Coda as soon as possible on 01425 276161 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to guarantee your place.
